Cambodia University of Technology and Science ( CamTech), supported by Khmer Enterprise and the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI), launched the second season of the ‘Innovative Tech Challenge’ on Saturday, calling for the participation of over 300 students from universities in Phnom Penh and the provinces.
The Innovative Tech Challenge theme this year is ‘Building the Innovative Future Today,’ and it aims to provide the opportunity for students who are pursuing their degrees to apply their innovative business solutions in the field of technology.
Hul Seingheng, Undersecretary of State of MISTI, on behalf of Minister Hem Vanndy, said that this competition really contributes to the promotion and strengthening of technology innovation, and he encourages students to participate to gain new knowledge and experience.
The Chief Executive Officer of Khmer Enterprise Chhieng Vanmunin said this year’s competition is on a national scale and will build collective knowledge and bring out the best innovative ideas for the benefit of Cambodia.
“We encourage students to take part in this competition, and the winners will be encouraged to enter other competitions, and have the opportunity to gain employment in government ministries and other institutions,” he said.
Khieng Sothy, CamTech Founding President, said that the collaboration with Khmer Enterprise for the second season has seen double the number of university students wanting to participate.
He added that the main purpose of this competition is to provide entrepreneurship training for students and funds to support their business ideas to become technology companies in the future.
“In particular, I see that the participation of students in the provinces has increased significantly from last year. I am very pleased to see the growth of this innovative community. I would like to encourage all students to participate in the competition,” he said.
Applications for the competition opened on Saturday and will close on July 15.
The winning team will receive $3,500, the runners up $2,500, the third place $2,000, and the seven other finalists will receive $500.
