Century High School names new activities director – KTTC

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Century High School has hired a new activities director to replace Mark Kuisle, who announced his retirement after 34 years in May.
RPS Superintendent Kent Pekel announced David Perkins has accepted the position and will start on July 1, pending school board approval. This announcement was confirmed via an email sent to Century students’ families.
Perkins will move to Rochester following his Assistant Principal role at Jackson Middle School in the Anoka Hennepin district.
According to Pekel, prior to his current position, Perkins was an Associate Principal in New Brighton. Perkins held the role of Student Management Specialist at the Osseo School District and Behavior Specialist and Activities Director in North St. Paul-Maplewood.
In addition to these professional experiences, Perkins has coached youth sports throughout his career.
Pekel said he conducted the final round of interviews for the Century High School position because the current lead principal at Century High School, Mr. Steve Akin, is serving in an interim capacity.
According to Pekel, he interviewed the candidates who were ranked the highest by a diverse group of staff, parents, and students from the Century High School community. Pekel said he took the interview committee’s input very seriously and thanked them for participating in the process.
