Gap Inc CTO Sven Gerjets
Gap Inc. this week said Sven Gerjets has joined the clothing company as Chief Technology Officer.
He arrives after nearly seven years at Mattel, where he oversaw all aspects of technology and innovation including shared tech platforms, AI, software and hardware development, blockchain, and connected product design. He also led the toymaker’s data security and privacy initiatives.
In a note to employees, CEO Richard Dickson said strengthening Gap’s platform is a priority as the company continues to grow its house of brands, which includes Athleta, Old Navy, Banana Republic and the namesake Gap. “It is crucial that our technology portfolio and digital roadmap support the reinvigoration of our brands and enable us to build deeper connections with customers and achieve our goals.”
Gerjets will report to Dickson, who himself is a Mattel alum. He was the the company’s operating chief before joining Gap as president and CEO in 2023.
Prior to Mattel, Gerjets served as CIO at Time Warner Cable, where he consolidated the IT and cybersecurity groups and led through Time Warner’s acquisition by Charter Communications. He has also held the CTO role at Pearson Education, and SVP of IT at DirectTV.
Technology can help push the boundaries of efficiency, product development and customer engagement, Dickson said in the note to staff. “We have just started the journey with data science, and I am confident that Sven’s expertise and leadership will put us on the right path to success.”
Gerjets succeeds Chief Digital and Technology Officer Gurmeet Singh.
